Don’t go away, kitty.

Stay.

The Amphibious Mental Excursions of Ms. Cranberry Deviance

Just a few random thoughts for today, in no particular order:

to the woman today at work who told me that discovering a white border around the inside of her black dishwasher was very upsetting: You seriously need to grow a sense of perspective. There’s a woman right now in Saudi Arabia who was gang-raped and is going to be getting 100 lashes with a whip on top of what she’s already been through, because she dared to take her story to the press. Grow a sense of perspective.

Thanksgiving day was okay. I went with a few friends to a nice buffet place in Amish County in PA. There was a cranberry sauce that had orange in it that rocked my world.

I really do believe that we need to start forbidding customers to use the restrooms at the place where I work. I do not work in a place that makes or provides food for people, so I really don’t see a good reason to allow the grossbags who populate my town to use our bathroom. Especially when they can’t bring themselves to NOT foul it all up.

I can’t stop hearing the song, “Whiskey in the Jar” by Metallica. I mean, I can’t stop hearing it in my head. Why is that?

Do Breasts Have Countries Of National Origin?

Every other day or so, I look up the stats page of this blog, just to see how “people” are “finding” my blog. And I see some odd phrases in there, things like “gravestones”, “Ann Coulter’s Ugly ____”, real random things like that. But on more than one occasion, I have discovered that someone got to this blog by typing in “large Italian tits” into a search engine. I have noticed this on at least four separate occasions. So, I really have to ask here: how can a pair of tits have their own nationality? Can a Swedish girl have American tits? What are American tits? Can you have patriotic tits? Can you have jingoistic tits? Can you play bingo while shaking your withered, old patriotic tits and listening to Placido Domingo? Is your favorite Beatle Ringo? How can you have one part of you that comes from a different place than the rest of you? Can a girl from Zimbabwe have Canadian tits? What about a woman who hails from Myanmar; can she have Iraqi tits?

Am I thinking about this too hard?

Benny Hill In Slow Motion, In A Gothic Representation, On The Liu-Tung Peninsula Asserting His Right To C**m

Some inspirations have hit me lately. Saturday night at the Crimson Moon The Collingwood played a great show, and, at some point, I seem to recall Matt and I “spitting” poetry at some nice strangers in the parking lot out back, with the grey-cat-of-the-house looking on. There’s a 9:05 am coffee in front of me and I’m typing (wondering?)/wondering (typing?) aloud about what I’m gonna do. Samhain is approaching and I have what feels like 16 new poems in my mouth. My shadow’s finally flying South while my body will soon be going West, by Southwest. I’m going to be performing in New Mexico. Once in a while it feels like there’s too much inspiration, and that’s still a good thing.

I finally got an email back from the University of Florida Police regarding the Andrew Meyer Taser Thing – here’s what I got in my email:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns with our agency. I have made a formal request of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to review this use of force action. I have full confidence in their ability to objectively investigate this incident.

As a professional organization, it is important that we remain open to and encourage feedback from the community we serve. Once this investigative process is complete, we will take everything into consideration as we move forward with our analysis and reviews of protocols and procedures.

Again, thank you for your comments.

So, that was interesting. Clinical, dodgy, and a somewhat NON-ANSWER, but what are you gonna do? Not sure what else I really can do. I’m excited to tell you all, by the way, that the 2007 Individual Poetry Slam Champion Danny Sherrard is coming to the Delawhere? Open Mic & Slam this Wednesday, September 26, 2007. It’s only a measly 2 bucks at the door, plus a drink or two. You’ve really got to come and check this one out. Go to this page and check out the two audio clips (they’re at the very bottom of the page) of Danny performing his work onstage at the Seattle (where he hails from) Poetry Slam. He’s amazing and I’m thrilled he’s coming to Delaware; this is truly a not-t0-be-missed show.

Poetry: Tonight it’s all going to go down on Union Street in Wilmington, baby

Tonight is the Delawhere? Open Mic & Slam at the Crimson Moon Tavern in Wilmington. Please come and check it out. It’s only $2 at the door, with a minimum purchase of $5. That’s a grand total of seven dollars. For the cost of a Sunday newspaper and a pack of cigarettes (two things that you will throw away when you’re finished with them and forget all about) you can check out the poetry of any number of amazing poets from all over Delaware (and Philly too!) Slam poets from Newark and Wilmington will converge on this spot and have a nice little World War of Words. Dreamstreets poets from the vaunted halls of Delaware’s storied poetic history come on any given night to lend their voices to the chorus. Newcomers to the craft, we always need you! Long-time stage pros slicking up the mic with their explosive, comedic and intense deliveries. Have a beer and a sandwich and watch the sparks fly. Check out a girl. Check out a guy. Socialize and listen to riveting “verbage“. Break out that poem you have about the underwear you happen to have on at the time. Break out that poem you have about that secret crush you have on the Pope. Break out that poem you have about how much you want to crush the Pope’s head. Seriously. How else could you spend that little and have that much to carry away after?

I mean, c’mon. For goddamn seriously: can we really allow Delaware’s politics take center stage all the time? Can we really afford to do that, in a time when legislation is getting all the press and poets are getting close to none? How can we allow Paris Hilton and House Bill 177 to get so much attention when there are poets pouring their hearts out and getting 10’s and 3’s on a Wilmington slam poetry stage?!

And finally, let me say a thank-you to my friend Fran for hipping me to this awesome clip on YouTube:

I Will Tell You What’s Really Bad.

It’s having a horrible, horrible song stuck in your head. Not because you put it in there on purpose (as in, choosing to listen to the song), but because it happened to be blaring out of the windows of a passing car.

You give love a bad name, indeed.

Molto Bello (or Bielo? Beaulieu? Below?…

Somebody left a stray piece of sheet music at my work today that had a notation on it which read, “Molto Rit“. Also, at another moment in time on the same sheet, “Bell Tone“.

I don’t understand it yet, but I like it.

Mmmmmm…….

…and ready to leap in.

This morning I start my new job. Back into the shipping business, as I was saying earlier. I really hope today goes well: a friend put a lot of faith in me when he helped me secure this job.

Talk to you later, World of WordPress.

I had a dream this morning that I was riding a little bicycle on a long, hilly,
dark country road, late at night.

I was riding the bicycle for a what seemed like a long time
before it occurred to my dreaming self to flick on the little headlight lamp
affixed to the handlebars of the bike.

The headlamp only gave off just a little bit of light.
Barely enough light for me to see past the front wheel.

I don’t know what it means, but I rode until the morning came.

And rain.
